A Study on the Knowledge and the Attitude Junior College and Collegs Students Toward Family Planning


Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the knowledge and Attitude of Junior College and College Students toward family planning. The questionnaires were given to 220 students at I Junior College and 1 College in Kyung Book area from 15 to 20 June, 1988.
The results of the study were as follows.
1. Concerning the understanding of family planning, the response of the item "In order to have the appropriately small number of children and bring them up well" stood the first rank (male: 68.6%, fe ale: 70.6%) on p<0.01 level of significance.
2. The attitude on family planning was favorable (male: 74.6%, female: 88.2%) on p<0.05 level of significance.
3. Concerning the ideal time of family planning, a majorit of the respondents agreed to the item "premarital " (male: 44.9%, female: 78.4%) on p=0.0000 level of significance.
4. In case of different opinion with parent to family planning, 49.2% of male students agreed to the item "One¢¥s own plan" and 68.6% of female students agreed to the item "a compromise plan" on p<1.01 level of significance.
5. Concerning the necessity of children in a married life, the response of the item "be positively necessary stood the first rank (male: 76.3%, female: 57.8%) on p<0.05 level of significance.
6. The attitude to adoption when became sterile was favorable (male: 44.9%, female. 77.5%) on p=0.0100
level of significance.
7. The ideal number of children was "Two children" (male: 49.2%, female: 37.3%). There was not statisticaly a significant difference (p>0.05).
8. The tendency toward boy-preference was higher to the male students than the female students on p<0.11 level of significance.
9. Concerning their own old age problem, the response rate of the item "I will live only with my spouse or as a single in my old age" showed the highest rank (male: 45.8%, female: 63.7%) on p<0.01 level of significance.
